The day we found out we were expecting!

11/25/13: Mommy stayed home from work on this day because she just wasn’t feeling very good and thought it would be better to stay in bed all day and watch movies with Jasper. Mommy could have gone and had a pregnancy test the Friday before but she just wasn’t sure if she was emotionally ready to do that so she decided to wait and see what would happen. Mommy had mixed feelings over the past 2 weeks over whether or not she really was pregnant. There were so many different signs, but they were also considered possible side effects of the medication mommy was taking to help support a pregnancy. Mommy was so sick all day and finally decided to leave the house around 6:30 pm to get some soup, Gatorade, and nausea medicine in hopes of feeling better so she could go to work the next day. When she got to Walgreens she decided she might just buy a pregnancy test and see what happens. Mommy had mixed feelings because she thought they were kinda spendy and didn’t want to waste the money when she was sure she wasn’t pregnant anyway. Mommy decided to buy  the tests with the idea that oh well, then she would know for sure. It must have been her motherly instinct, because Mommy decided not to wait until Tuesday morning and test right when she got home from the store. Daddy was at the Minnesota Wild game with his cousin, Justin and Mommy did not tell Daddy she had finally decided to take a pregnancy test, so Daddy had no idea what kind of “trouble” Mommy was getting into at home. Mommy should have waited a few more hours to test or even test the next morning but she just couldn’t take the suspense and decided to test right away. It was about 7:00 pm. Mommy had the shock of her life when two blue lines showed up before she could even set the test down on the counter!!! She could hardly believe her eyes!!! Since you are supposed to wait 2 minutes for the results, Mommy decided she would walk away and come back to check on it. But she knew in her heart, that it couldn’t be a false alarm. So she ran into the bedroom and laid her head down on the bed and screamed into the bed. Our silly dog, Jasper, came running down the steps to see what was going on. Mommy picked up Jasper and gave him lots of hugs and kisses and said, “Mommy is going to have a baby!!!!!” Then Mommy went back to the bathroom and checked the test and sure enough it was 2 very bright blue lines! The first thing Mommy did was text her friend Shannon and tell her, because Mommy had been texting Shannon all day. Mommy was also unsure if she wanted to just tell Daddy or tell Daddy in a special way. Mommy ran upstairs and showed the test to our cousin Maria. She saw the 2 lines and said oh my god and gave Mommy a huge hug. Mommy had to settle down her excitement before she could call Daddy but about 10 minutes later, she text Daddy and asked him if he was having a good time at the Wild game. He said yes and Mommy said well it is going to get even better. Then she text him and asked him to answer the phone when she called because it would be really important. Daddy answered right away and Mommy’s first words were, “Hi, Daddy.” Daddy was a little confused and said wait did you take a test. I told Daddy that I had and the entire story about how skeptical I had been. He was so happy. I could hear it in his voice that he had the biggest smile plastered on his face. When Daddy came home from the game, we talked more about it and shared some hugs and kisses.
